Plan Analysis for Autonomous Sociological Agents

چکیده
This paper is concerned with the problem of how effective social interaction arises from individual social action and mind. The need to study the individual social mind, suggests a move towards the notion of sociological agents who can model their social environment as opposed to acting socially within it. This does not constrain such social behaviour; on the contrary, we argue that it provides the requisite information and understanding for such behaviour to be effective. We argue that effective social agents must be sociological. It is not enough for agents to model other agents in isolation; they must also model the relationships between them. A sociological agent is an agent that can model agents and agent relationships. In this paper, we show how an existing agent framework leads naturally to the enumeration of a map of inter-agent relationships that can be modelled and exploited by sociological agents to enable more effective operation, especially in the context of multi-agent plans.

Arguments over Co-operative Plans
Autonomous planning agents that share a common goal should be able to propose, justify and share information about plans. To reach an agreement on the best plan, strategies for persuasion and negotiation can be used by agents in order to share their beliefs about the world and resolve conflicts between the agents. We present an argumentation scheme and associated critical questions to create an...
متن کاملPlan Representation for Robotic Agents
Most robotic agents cannot fully exploit plans as resources for better problem-solving performance because of imminent limitations of their plan representations. In this paper we propose plan representations that are, for a given job, representationally and inferentially adequate and inferentially and acquisitionally efficient. We state what these properties mean in the context of robotic agent...
متن کاملCoordination through Plan Repair
In most application domains for distributed arti cial intelligence, several autonomous agents (e.g., companies or personal assistants) each have their own goals. They need to plan for these goals, coordinate their actions, deal with uncertainty, and interleave all this with plan execution [2, 4]. To complicate matters even more, many agents are self-interested and require some privacy concernin...
متن کاملPlan decoupling of agents with qualitatively constrained tasks
In many task-planning domains, assemblies of autonomous agents need to construct plans and schedules for executing their assigned sets of tasks in order to complete them. Often, there will be dependencies between tasks to be executed by different agents. In such a situation, a plan-coordination problem arises when the joint plan is required to be feasible, whatever locally-feasible plans the in...
متن کاملA Missing Link: The Role of Semiotics in Multiagent Enviroments
Approaches to artificial intelligence research based on autonomous agents have thus far primarily relied on cognitive science and other psychologically motivated approaches to the social world. These approaches have been a logical outcome of the researchers' concentration on agent building. However, recent developments in the field have revealed the need for a wider and primarily socially cente...
